    Description

    Peek-A-Boo with
    "Dolly Dingle"
    and "Kaptain Kiddo"
part of our "American dolls" celebration ....
    Wonderful
    rare PAIR
    of original,
    early circa 1910
    , soft-stuffed cloth,
    "
    Baby
    Dolly Dingle",
    dolls designed by
    Grace Drayton
exactly as they first appeared in,
    "The Ladies Home Journal"
    , for the
Dolly Dingle line of paperdoll cut-outs.
Between the years, 1912 and 1933, Grace drew over two hundred paperdoll pages for the
    "
    Pictorial Review"
alone. Many of these were the "Dollie Dingle" series of paperdoll cut-out pages.
Dolly is, 7" tall, and has large
    blue
    painted,
    googly (side-glancing)
an impish smile and cute little nose, applied human hair ribbon and simply adorable, antique straw bonnet with lots of trim and wears her printed-on undies with eyelet lace trim, red striped socks and black, one-strap mary-jane shoes. Even more amazing is that she still has her
original, removeable, polka-dot printed, cotton playdress
with gathered neckline (exactly as in the illustrations of her book). See illustration 8 for the
    signature
    :
    Patent Applied for
mark on the bottom of her foot and as described and shown on page 134, "Cloth Dolls"-Linda Edward (last photo). Illustrations from original 1910 "Kiddie-Land" book are
    not included
and shown only for reference. Her equally rare, companion doll, called "Kaptain Kiddo", is the same size, sawdust-stuffed with straw farmer hat still attached, similar painted features with blue, "googly" side-glancing eyes and his original clothing. Baby "Dingle" has no damages, no stains or tears, no fading or dust and no repairs or odors as she is from a smoke free home. "Kaptain Kidoo" is also in very good overall condition with a few age stains which do not diminish his charm. Don't they make a terrific PAIR?
Together again after all these years, they will make a fantastic addition to your Grace Drayton doll collection!
Give them a special place in your doll collection!
    Other
"Dolly Dingle" (Campbell Kid) doll and large cloth dolls are
    not included
    and   listed separately.
