2009-2012 Mac Pro A1289 4,1 5,1 Power Supply 614-0454 Pixla modification kit.

Description

The Pixla (Pixlas) modification is recommended if you want to run todays modern GPUs that want more power.
Apple recommends the backplane power connectors are capable of 225 watts or less. IMO, 250 or less.
I have done over 20 of these to Mac Pros and made a DIY kit. I got it down to the easiest I can make it.
If the connection were crimped, it makes it a PITA to feed them through hole in the shelf from the power supply down to the GPU. The wires will be marked to match the connections on the power supply cable. The wires on a harness are cut to lenght so it easy to match them up also. The GPU connections are both 8 pin (6+2). Works with both 6 and 8 pin GPUs.
Installation instructions are on the net and I will help if you run into issues installing it. You shouldn't need my help if you have basic skills and read the installation instruction online.
Please don't buy this if you don't know how to strip a wire, crimp a connection, route a wire, zip tie etc etc.
All the parts pictured are included for a clean professional installation.
The last few pictures are for reference to see how I install them.
The power supply is from fully tested complete running correctly 2010 or 2012 Mac Pro 5,1s.
Correct/works in 2009 Mac Pro 4,1 and 2010-2012 Mac Pro 5,1.

I did the 1st one with 8 taps just like you found. If you look closely they put 2 taps right next to each other on the same ground wire from the power supply. It makes no sense to do it like that so I combined them. I also combined 2 other ground wires on the harness.
The site that I bought the harnesses from also brings up this point that you don't need all the different grounds and they recommend doing it just like I did.
You will also notice they used all yellow wire connections in what you saw. This again makes no sense. The harness wires are too small for a yellow connection and you end up folding them a couple of times to crimp correctly. The blade connection is exactly the same size in blue, red and yellow connectors.
Mr. Pixla had a great idea but it needed refinement.
