1794 1C S-26 HEAD OF 94 AU53+ PCGS CAC
Newly discovered 1794 1C Head of 1794 can be obtained easily; however, a two tier system exists for most early copper, which is purely dictated on quality. One clear indication of this two tier market is the observance of CAC approved coins. CAC early copper is incredibly tough to find due to the nature of early copper where a plethora of issues can arise, most commonly from corrosion and the fact that these were hand struck. Thus finding choice chocolate brown, fully struck, with full dentils, CAC approved 1794 1C in any grade much less AU53+ such as this wIth flawless surface is more rare than the coin itself. This coin is a unique S-26 with late die-stage as the crack can be seen covering the reverse very interestingly, not seen on any other example. The offered coin belonged to a doctor from Florida who amassed many numismatic rarities over decades, as such this coin was just newly graded and absolutely fresh to the market. No comps exists as one might suspect for a au53+, but the last cac comps for a S-26 was a au55 pcgs cac that sold in 2016 for ,675.
